Proper diagnosis of hives should be undertaken by doing a careful case history of the patient. The skin eruptions flare, swell and itch and then disappear but only to reappear elsewhere on the body. When affected by hives, avoid exposure to things that you are allergic to. Do not wear tight clothes and avoid hot water bathes or showers. Certain creams and lotions are also available to help numb nerves and reduce the itching of the skin.
